z.one Ultrasound Platform

A Unique, Patented Convertible Ultrasound™ Platform

By offering an innovative way to capture and process ultrasound images, Zone Sonography technology delivers cart-based premium image quality, performance and features with conventional hand-carried ultrasound, or HCU, portability and ease of use. The z.one platform, powered by Zone Sonography, converts at the touch of a button, from a full-featured cart-based system into a premium compact, ultrasound system without sacrificing image quality and performance.

Zone Sonography technology eliminates the traditional tradeoff by being software-based, which results in faster data acquisition and more diagnostic information, and the ability to package the system in a small configuration with greater portability. Our system incorporates our 5½-pound, laptop-sized scan engine, which is docked into a full-featured cart, complete with a large monitor and complete user interface, making our z.one ultrasound system actually two systems in one.

The removable Scan Engine is a premium compact unit that can be undocked from all three z.one ultrasound systems and transported to the patient’s bedside quickly and easily.

The combination of premium image quality, performance and features, greater portability and ease of use enables our z.one ultrasound system to compete favorably with the conventional cart-based systems in their traditional markets as well as the emerging markets currently served by HCU systems.

Economic, Ergonomic and Efficient Imaging Solution for a Wide Variety of Environments

The z.one platform is ideal for both traditional and non-traditional clinical settings such as the large hospital-based Radiology departments that demand premium performance for portable exams, Emergency Medicine departments, where access to the patient may be limited and time at a premium, and to situations where the patient is difficult to access, such as the ICU. Its adaptability and flexibility combined with premium quality imaging enable the system to adapt to the workflow on demand, substantially improving productivity and responsiveness.

The combination of portability and image quality also makes it possible to perform more examinations per day by enabling the clinician to transport the scanner quickly and easily and reducing the need for repeat scanning due to poor image quality. Additionally, focal zones are no longer an issue, saving a substantial amount of time.

The z.one platform provides comparable image quality and functionality to the conventional 300 to 400-pound ultrasound cart-based system. Yet it is substantially smaller, lighter, more maneuverable, and nimbler than any system of equivalent image quality. The operator is therefore relieved of the sheer physical burden of pushing unwieldy equipment, especially when using the system in its compact form.

Upgradeable Platform

New clinical applications and advanced system capabilities can be made available to clinicians quickly and inexpensively through software upgrades via the internet. Upgrades for conventional systems are more expensive and require a longer time to market.

Upgrades for the z.one platform can be provided quickly and easily through a variety of common data distribution media, and through the internet. The z.one ultrasound platform’s software-based architecture allows us to improve image quality and add clinical applications more quickly and cost-effectively than conventional hardware-based systems.

Increased Price/Performance Ratio

The software-based architecture of the z.one platform and reduction of development costs substantially improves the price/performance ratio. It offers a lower purchase price and lower maintenance cost than conventional systems with comparable image quality due to our software-based architecture and our use of off-the-shelf hardware components. As a result, our z.one ultrasound system is cost-effective to purchase, upgrade, and service.

The potential for performing a greater number of exams each day, the simplicity and economy of software updates and upgrades, and the resulting long-term viability of the platform, also contribute to a compelling story of superior value and superb return on investment.
